YOUTH IN ACTION: EQUALITY IN, VIOLENCE OUT!

Time frame: 2012-2013
Place: 10 districts of Istanbul aim: To improve the knowledge and skills of youngsters on gender equality and nonviolent communication and raise their awareness. To get people working closely with youngsters develop the same level of awareness.
Method: 100 voluntary teachers from 30 schools of 10 different districts of İstanbul are given trainings on gender equality, nonviolent communication-behaviour, communication with youngsters, and peer training for 4 days. These teachers then transfer their knowledge to the students participating in the project. Thus 2100 student are trained through teachers. Students meet 60 university students studying cinema and visual communication. They receive training on short film and poster production which will be prepared within the scope of the project and they practise what they have learned. Short movies and posters are presented in a conference which will also host speakers from abroad. Other participating students visit youth centres, national education directorates and NGOs working for the welfare of the youth.
